Korea National University of Cultural Heritage(KNUCH) was opened in March 2000 by the Cultural
Heritage Administration of the Republic of Korea. In March 2017, KNUCH signed an agreement
with UNESCO establishing a UNESCO Chair on “Capacity-Building for the Preservation and
Restoration of the Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage”. Through this UNESCO Chair, KNUCH have
carried out activities such as education, research, exchange of scholars and students, workshops,
seminars, and publishing research results for educational purposes in the heritage field.
In 2023, KNUCH aimed to expand international research network of cultural-heritage related
institutions and experts to foster interdisciplinary research subjects related to Asia-Pacific
heritage.
