Tuition Fee and Living Expenses
- Exchange students must remain officially enrolled at Korea National University of Cultural Heritage (KNUCH) during the exchange period. (Note: Students who take a leave during the exchange will be considered unregistered and will lose their eligibility for the exchange program.)
- Tuition tee must be paid to KNUCH each semester. (If you are participating in a year-long exchange, tuition must also be paid for the second semester)
- Apart from scholarships for living expenses provided to exchange students, all other costs associated with the exchange (e.g. airfare, additional living expenses, etc.) must be borne by the student.
Before Departure
- Research academic programs, housing, and other relevant information about the host institution through past exchange students, the host university’s website, and its international office.
- Share all relevant information with other students going to the same university or region.
- Familiarize yourself with KNUCH’s history, academic system, and features, so you are prepared to introduce the university to international peers
- Attend the pre-departure orientation organized by the K-Heritage International Center.
Upon Arrival
- Report your arrival to the international office of the host university and submit your Arrival Report.
- Use the brochures and posters provided by KNUCH to promote our university to students at the host institution.
- If your address, phone number, email, or any major information changes during the exchange period, you must notify the K-Heritage International Center immediately.
Credit Transfer
- Credit transfer is based on the Academic Regulations and the Student Exchange and Credit Recognition Guidelines of KNUCH.
- If you plan to transfer credits as major courses, you must consult with your department office before departure, as the process for credit recognition varies by department.
- Courses taken at the host institution should primarily be major-related, but elective or second major courses may also be taken.
- If you need to fulfill required major or second major courses, you must thoroughly discuss and determine equivalent courses with your department chair before departure. Failure to do so may result in non-recognition of credits, and the responsibility will rest with the student.
Credit Transfer Policy
- The total number of credits earned at domestic or overseas institutions (including exchange universities) cannot exceed half of the total credits required for graduation at Korea National University of Cultural Heritage (KNUCH).
- During the exchange period, students must transfer at least one course per semester, and may not transfer more than 18 credits per semester. For summer or winter sessions (seasonal semesters), no more than 6 credits may be transferred.
- Credits earned at the host university will be counted toward the total number of credits required for graduation, but will not be included in GPA (Grade Point Average) calculations.
- “If the credit value of a course at the host university matches KNUCH’s credit system, it will be transferred as-is. If the systems do not align, the number of credits will be adjusted according to KNUCH’s credit transfer standards for each partner university.”
