Korea National University of Heritage (President: Kang Kyung-hwan), under the Korea Heritage Service, successfully held the “2025 K-Heritage Summer School” from July 2 to July 14 as part of its summer semester program.

The K-Heritage Summer School is a special cultural education program for international students with an interest in Korean cultural heritage. The program offers a combination of special lectures from various heritage experts and hands-on experiences.

Unlike last year when the program was offered as a non-degree course for international students residing, this year’s K-Heritage Summer School was run as an official credit-bearing summer semester program for students from KNUH’s partner universities abroad.

This year, students from Sweden, Taiwan, and Myanmar participated in the lectures on topics such as traditional Korean architecture and Hangeul as cultural heritage which was offered at the K-Heritage international center located within Deoksugung compound. Students were also provided with opportunities to experience Korean history and traditional culture through hands-on activities such as field trip to Buyeo and a templestay at a local Buddhist temple.

Following K-Heritage Day, held on May 15, this year’s K-Heritage Summer School marks the second part of the KNUH’s Korean heritage education program for international participants, K-Heritage Academy. In the second half of the year, the final program in the series—the K-Heritage Leadership Program, designed for global cultural leaders—will be offered.
